The Grudge Analysis (2)

The opening scene begins with an establishing shot of the city where the film is based, so it shows where the film is and what sort of surroundings the film is going to be set in. This shot shows the oytside of the city from a very good view so the viewer is then able to see all of the scenery where things could be happeneing in the film and it gives the viewer and= idea of what sort of things could happen later on in the film. On this shot the mise en scene is very dull looking like it could rain and its very cold in the city which shows that something dark and not very good will be happening in the film.
